On Equivalents of Well-foundedness An experiment in Mizar

چکیده
Four statements equivalent to well-foundedness (well-founded induction, existence of recursively deened functions, uniqueness of recursively deened functions , and absence of descending !-chains) have been proved in Mizar and the proofs mechanically checked for correctness. It seems not to be widely known that the existence (without the uniqueness assumption) of recursively deened functions implies well-foundedness. In the proof we used regular cardinals, a fairly advanced notion of set theory. The theory of cardinals in Mizar was developed earlier by G. Bancerek. With the current state of the Mizar system, the proofs turned out to be an exercise with only minor additions at the fundamental level. We would like to stress the importance of a systematic development of a mechanized data base for mathematics in the spirit of the QED Project.

متن کاملSemantic Prosody: Its Knowledge and Appropriate Selection of Equivalents
In translation, choosing appropriate equivalent is essential to convey the right message from source-text to target-text, and one of the issues that may have a determinative role in appropriate equivalent choice is the semantic prosody (SP) behavior of words and the relation existing between the SP of a word and semantic senses (i.e. negativity, positivity or neutrality) of its collocations in ...

متن کاملTowards a Mizar Mathematical Library in OMDoc Format
Mizar is one of largest libraries of formalized mathematics. The language of the library is highly optimized for authoring by humans. Like in natural languages, the meaning of an expression is influenced by its (mathematical) context in a way that is natural to humans, but hard to specify for machine manipulation. From this point of view, it may be considered as locked up in an arcane file form...
